“CMG-Crucial: From Passion to Purpose – A Journey Fueled by Family and Music”

Spread the Love

When did you first discover your passion for music?

Well I’ve always been in love with music. Since a kid listening on the radio or watching music videos. Over time whether it was rapping or singing led me to become one myself. I’m that type of dude that goes on a road trip prepared for 8 hrs of doing both. You either singing along or you irritated the whole ride.

Who inspired you to become a rapper?

A lot of artist but mainly jayz nas pac biggie Eminem back in those days. Nowadays I’m looking at Drake Kendrick J Cole Big Sean and Joyner Lucas

How did your journey in the music industry begin?

Very slowly first started rapping at the age of 18 but as I grew up, life started happening. Got married young had children and put my music career on the back burner. I was dabbling in and out every few years. Most considered it a hobby but it was something that was flowing through me and had to get it out. Now that my children are older they enjoy it and push me. They also are inspired to do music as well so helping them along the way.

What is your favorite song that you have done and why?

That’s a hard question cause they all mean something to me one way or the other. I have songs with my kids . But if i had to choose one it would be the first one I recorded at Mujo studios in Dallas Texas. Crücial’s back started it off and had my daughter on it when she was in kindergarten. That’s when I knew how I was going to continue with my music. With them involved inspirationally or actually recording with them.

What challenges have you faced as a rapper?

Insecurities and fear. What would people think? Is the music even good enough? You compare yourself to what’s playing or follow your favorite artist and they are great and you’re still figuring things out. Thinking I can’t write like that or how did he come up with that. Comparisons become competition. But then you realize none of that matters. I can only be the best i can be by hard work and staying true to myself, my brand, and my heart. For so long I hid it or bottled it up. To the point of eruption. Which that’s where I am now with no signs of slowing down.

What message do you want to share with your fans through your music?

My message is substance and positivity. Real recognizes real. Too many people follow trends. Make music for vibes or what they think people want to hear. We got more music now more than ever. A lot of stuff sounding the same. More vibes less substance. I make music for myself and my children. I follow that and find out where it takes me.

What advice would you give to young people who want to become rappers?

Listen.. when the older generation guys are tell you things. Try to listen. Too many people trying to sell music cause it sounds like what’s happening now. Stay true to yourself and make your own lane. Make music from your soul to connect. Don’t sell your soul for a check.
